Do you ever wish there was an easy way to tell when it's time for new tires? Knowing ahead of time would certainly be better than finding out as you sit on the side of the road, with a flat!

We've put together some quick and useful tips for you, that make it super easy to keep track of your tire wear and help prepare you for the dreaded tire purchase ahead of time!
  • TIP#1: Check your tire date code - immediately after receiving them or having them mounted on your bike! The date code is located in an oval impression that is located directly after the D.O.T. code. Every tire manufactured has to have a D.O.T. code and date code. The four-digit date code reads as follows: the first two numbers are the week of manufacture and the next two are the year of manufacture. Your tires should be replaced no later than five years from that date code. If the five years are up - it's time to replace!
  • TIP#2: Keep a keen eye on your tire tread wear bars! the wear bars are not as easily detected as the tire date code, so we've included some pictures to help you along. The first picture displays the arrow (or diamond) that points to where the wear bar is located on the tire. (The wear bars are small bumps that indicate minimum tread depth for safe operation and run across the tread pattern of the tire). The second picture is of a wear bar inside the tread. See how it looks like a little bump of rubber? When the surface rubber of your tire and the wear bar are almost flush with each other - it's time to replace!
It is also a good idea to maintain proper tire pressure. You'll get better gas mileage, and it helps add life to your tire! We hope you find these tips helpful and look forward to seeing you out on the road!
